Everything about the collective labor agreement for research institutions

All employees at research institutes and the Koninklijke Bibliotheek will receive a wage increase of more than 9 percent. Agreements have also been made about getting a permanent contract for structural work and leave for transgender people.

Negotiator Donald Pechler concluded a negotiating agreement with the other unions and employers at the end of July 2023. The collective labor agreement for research institutions runs from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024. The collective labor agreement booklet can be found (in Dutch and English) below in the downloads.

The Institute for the Dutch Language (INT) follows the Collective Labor Agreement for Research Institutions. There is an equivalent for this agreement locked.

Pay raise

From 1 September 2023 you will see a structural wage increase of 5 percent on your pay slip. As of 1 January 2024, you will also receive a structural salary increase of 2,25 percent. If you add the previous increase of 2023 percent from January 2, this amounts to a total wage increase of more than 9 percent.

One-off payment

In September 2023 you will receive a one-off payment of 1500 euros gross for a full-time job. Part-timers receive the benefit pro rata.

Transgender leave and holidays

This collective labor agreement includes transgender leave for the first time. It means that if you go into a gender change process, you can get out. The agreement on public holidays means that you can choose to work from home on Christian holidays such as Whit Monday, Ascension Day and Easter Monday. You can then exchange this leave for public holidays of another religion.

Permanent contract

After an initial fixed-term employment contract, you will receive a permanent appointment if you carry out structural work.
