Everything about the collective labor agreement for higher vocational education

De AOb concludes the collective labor agreement together with the other education unions and the employers' organization Vereniging Hogescholen. In the collective labor agreement consultations, the AOb the largest association.

The latest collective labor agreement in higher professional education became final in June 2020. “Due to the corona crisis, uncertainty about financing and the increased pension premium, we cannot yet make new agreements for the longer term”, says AObdriver Douwe Dirk van der Zweep.

Duration

  • During this collective labor agreement period (nine months), teaching staff will receive a wage increase of a total of 2,75 percent
  • All employees will receive a one-off payment of 2020 euros gross in June 880. Part-timers receive the amount pro rata. Some universities of applied sciences were unable to credit the benefit to the payslips in June 2020. Then you will receive the benefit in July 2020.

Have a say in the collective labor agreement

AObmembers participate in discussing the collective labor agreement. This can be done via the sector council for higher professional education. Together with the sector council, the AObnegotiators are committed to collective bargaining. As soon as a negotiator agreement has been reached, it will be presented to the Dutch via regional meetings and a digital poll AObmembers. This poll is an advice to the sector council. The council assesses this and then takes a final decision.

  • Who decides on my use of hours for sustainable employability?

    Employees decide on the use of these hours after consultation with their manager. This can be done, for example, in the annual interview cycle. The collective labor agreement for higher professional education states that the scheme is intended to give employees the opportunity to make agreements that help them to do their work well, healthily and with pleasure in the long term.

     

  • Am I obliged to include my vacation during the school vacation?

    Employers can designate a maximum of four days as mandatory vacation. The other days can be taken freely unless there are compelling reasons on the part of the employer to object.

  • Where can I find the travel allowance?

    The travel costs for commuting are determined per university of applied sciences. This can therefore differ per school. For business trips based on public transport, unless you have permission to travel with your own transport, the tax maximum applies.
