Week of action: What the unions demand per education sector
More money is needed in all sectors to improve salaries and to re-evaluate support staff positions. Money must also be released to reduce the workload. In total, 4 billion euros is needed on a structural basis for primary to university education. View what we demand from the Rutte III cabinet in your education sector.
Just before the provincial council elections, the unions want to make it clear that things have to change. Investments are essential. The AOb therefore calls for an investment program for the entire education sector, in order to catch up and work on quality improvement. 'For the future of new generations of young people, for the future of the Netherlands as a competitive knowledge economy, it is necessary to invest in education'. of note 'Invest in education' of the AOb.
During this cabinet term, a start must be made on investments in order to catch up with other professions. Education must become an attractive sector in which to work: the workload must therefore be reduced and salaries must be raised in all education sectors. Career prospects must be improved in education to increase the attractiveness of the profession. The AOb therefore comes up with realistic proposals per education sector.
Primary school
In primary education, for example, the pay gap with secondary education must be abolished: this will cost 560 million euros. The functions of educational support staff must also be reassessed and valued, for which 90 million euros is needed. There must be enough budget for material funding so that school boards do not have to take this out of the staff fund.
De AOb wants the employees of the VSO (secondary special education) to come under the collective labor agreement for secondary education so that they have the same employment conditions as their colleagues from that education sector.

Secondary education
Career prospects need to improve in secondary education. All teachers must be able to enter an LC salary scale. That costs 246 million euros. To reduce the workload, the AOb to a teaching week of 20 hours. Bringing back the lessons costs 675 million euros. Smaller class sizes also contribute to lowering the workload. Money must also be made available for this.

Secondary MBO education
A teacher scale on scale LC must be available for every MBO teacher. There must also be more room for scale LD for teachers who are used in teaching. This requires 117 million euros. To reassess educational support staff and instructors in MBO and to offer more career opportunities, 70 million euros is needed.

Higher vocational education
De AOb thinks that funding in higher professional education should grow with it, because we now see that the group size is increasing and lecture halls are becoming more crowded. In higher professional education, teachers must now have a master's degree. That is why the current salary scale 10 is insufficient compared to other professions. The minimum must be according to the AOb salary scale 11. 22 million euros is needed for this. For support staff, the salary line must be shortened, this costs 60 million euros.
