House of Representatives: letter about pay margin must be public
Secret letters from the ministry to school boards showing how much wage increases are possible must be made public. This is what a majority of the House of Representatives wants, as it turned out yesterday during votes on motions.

PvdA MP Kirsten van den Hul the motion in together with D66, GroenLinks, SP and received support from the PVV, Party for the Animals, DENK and Forum for Democracy. The Member of Parliament said via Twitter that it is "high time for a fair negotiating position for teachers, school leaders and educational supporters".
Uneven position
The Ministry of Education sends a 'space letter' to the school boards prior to each collective bargaining. The letter states what the maximum available wage margin is during the collective labor agreement negotiations. The AOb is also at the collective labor agreement with other education unions, but does not know what is in that letter and therefore whether administrations actually use the space for wage increases for salaries. The motion states that the secret letters lead to an unequal negotiating position.
Financiering
The House also voted yesterday on motions that were submitted during the debate on the lump sum: the way in which Dutch education is financed. A majority of the House of Representatives wants the government to examine the effects of setting a minimum percentage that school boards must spend on teaching staff. The SP served for this together with D66 a motion .
Also the motion MP Paul van Meenen (D66), in which the House calls on the government to define the main lines of the budget together with teachers, school leaders and boards, made it. In primary and secondary education, participation councils are given the right of consent, but it is not clear what exactly falls under the main points. Also the AOb finds it important that there is a clear definition.
