School board supports teacher in use of blackboard text FvD
A teacher who wrote catchwords like the right, mini-PVV and fascism on the blackboard next to the party name Forum for Democracy has not been guilty of indoctrination. This is stated in a statement that his employer, Veenlanden College, released yesterday in response to unrest on Twitter.
There were many responses to a photo of the whiteboard with the keywords. Angry twitterers see it as an example of leftist indoctrination. PVV MP Harm Beertema joined the discussion and drew attention to a previously submitted motion calling for a code of conduct that asks teachers to 'express themselves politically neutral'.
Legitimate
The school management of Veenlanden College, with locations in Mijdrecht and Vinkeveen, was forced to provide an explanation. The keywords on the board were given by the students themselves, because they discussed the elections for the Provincial Council during the lesson. "The legitimate question asked by the teacher was: what do we know about this party and their program?" Said the school management.
Assumption
According to the school, it is a reflection of how Thierry Baudet's party was viewed at that time. This is independent of the personal preference or opinion of the teacher. 'Connecting indoctrination from the teacher to this photo is only an assumption and is in stark contrast to how these conversations are usually conducted within our school.' The school management also indicates that their students are articulate and critical and that this is encouraged. "The idea that they are easy to indoctrinate is not how we students experience."
The vice principal says that with the statement the school mainly wants to show that they stand behind their teacher. “We now mainly hope that it will blow over and that it is finished.

[/blockquote]AObchairman Liesbeth Verheggen finds that politicians should be concerned about the teacher shortage and not about leftist indoctrination in education. “We always assume that teachers do their job professionally,” says AObchairman Verheggen. “I have yet to meet the first teacher who wants to indoctrinate his students. Training students to become self-thinking critical citizens, that is what the teacher stands for. ”
