Shelter for school children during strike

Next week, primary schools throughout the Netherlands will be closed due to the teachers' strike for more salary and less work pressure in The Hague. Hockey club HC Rotterdam jumps on it and will hold a hockey clinic that day. Parents can drop their kids in the morning to pick them up around XNUMXpm.
“The registrations are going very fast, we are at 380 primary school students”, says Karianne Lagendaal, manager of the club. “At first we only had a clinic with the Men's 1 team, but we brought in more auxiliary troops. The women's team also helps. The children are therefore housed for a large part of the day for a sporty day. ”

Entrepreneur Mathijs Knapen also saw an opportunity in Oisterwijk in North Brabant. He has a football hall. Knapen: “Normally it is empty. The focus is in the winter and I am often looking at what I can do when it is not busy. So I am happy with the strike. ” Knapen will hold a soccer ball on October 5 where children can play soccer with trainers and tournaments will be held.
Fun
In Hilversum also has the Institute for Sound and Vision a special promotion: five tickets for 10 euros, which is a lower ticket price than normal. There must be one adult. Van Elsen: “We wanted something fun and a fun alternative for that day. In our marketing team we also asked ourselves: where do you leave the children. ”
The employees of the AnnexCinema cinema in Woerden are also aware of the strike. On Facebook let them know that the cinema will be open from noon on 5 October and that all visitors will receive free popcorn.
Petition
Parent organizations also support the teachers. The Association for Public Education (VOO), a large national parents' association, has been in place since September 25 a petition on the website for parents and grandfathers and grandmothers in which they ask for a fair teacher salary. "The sound of parents and grandparents is necessary to show that the requested investments in education are widely supported," says the VOO.
