The cabinet has opened the door to regional school closure in secondary education. “If it is necessary for the schools to close, this must be clarified quickly”, responds AObchairman Eugenie Stolk.

At the moment there are thirteen regions that are still showing an increase in the number of infections. “We want to prepare extra measures for those regions,” Prime Minister Mark Rutte said during the press conference about the corona measures tonight. "We are considering closing secondary schools." These are regions where the contamination figures really stand out, such as Rotterdam-Rijnmond, South Holland-South and Twente.

If it is necessary for the schools in these regions to close more quickly, then this must be clarified quickly. ”
Parent evenings, open days: all of that can no longer take place
Secondary schools have already been closed because there are too many infections within the school. The cabinet does not consider it necessary now to expand such local initiatives. From tomorrow evening, however, the partial lockdown will be further strengthened in other areas. The cabinet continues to emphasize: only do the essentials. Also in education. Stolk: “It is important that schools only teach and no more than that. Parent evenings, open days: none of that can take place anymore. It is only education. ”
