Legal advice: New job? Put it on paper
Employers do not always smoothly come across with an employment contract. That is why it is useful to make your own arrangements for a new job.

Anyone who has a new job in education must obtain a deed of appointment in public education (only the employer signs) and in special education a deed of appointment (sign employer and employee). This employment contract states the position, the number of working hours and the salary scale. Check these certificates carefully, because in public education an objection must be lodged within six weeks if there is an error in them.

“You would say: with one push of a button, such a deed rolls out of the printer, but it seems to be complicated”, says Wim Gulitz of the Information and Advice Center of the AOb. It regularly happens that teachers have been teaching for a long time and widely without there being a deed. The advice is therefore to lay down written agreements yourself.

“Ask your employer if he wants to put it on the e-mail or do it yourself. Request confirmation and state that you assume that your e-mail is in accordance with the agreements if you don't hear anything. ” Also note which days and hours you work, in what scale and, in the case of temporary contracts, state whose job you are replacing, in what period and what type of replacement is involved (illness, pregnancy). Gulitz: “Make sure you get an employment contract with the educational institution itself and not with an employment agency or payroll agency. Because that is unfavorable for your employment conditions. ”
