Learn while standing in front of the class
With the right pre-education and experience, you can obtain your qualification as a lateral entrant at a teacher training course and teach at the same time. Lateral entrant with higher professional education or university studies
With your education you can go to primary education, secondary education or secondary vocational education as a lateral entrant. If you have a bachelor's degree that is related to a school subject, you can follow a so-called shorter 'head course'. With this you put a 'head' on your studies, so that you have a second-degree teaching qualification.
Lateral entrants with a vocational diploma of MBO 3 or 4
With a vocational diploma at level 3 or 4, you can teach a vocational profile at a secondary school, such as mobility and transport.
Fitness examination
Before you start working as a lateral entrant, the teacher training program or ROC will check whether you can teach directly. At the same time, they test whether you could obtain your teaching certificate within two years. Does that all look good? Then you conclude a supervision agreement with the school. You will then be employed by the school for a maximum of two years. During that time you teach and follow your education.
