So it grows, vso shrinks
The number of pupils in special education (SO) is rising and falling in secondary special education (VSO). Total (f) SO is growing, but less rapidly than reported earlier this week.
This is evident from a provisional student count as of 1 October, which DUO has broken down at the request of the Education Magazine. According to these numbers this year - for the first time since the introduction of appropriate education in 2014 - it has grown by 672 pupils (more than two percent). VSO, on the other hand, is shrinking by 306 students (0,8 percent). It can be seen that this decrease is leveling off compared to previous years.

In total, schools for special (secondary) education with 366 pupils have grown to 67.421 pupils. That is an increase of half a percent.
Last Monday reported the Algemeen Dagblad about an increase in special schools of 800 students. This shows that more than 400 non-subsidized students were incorrectly included, who were not included in the 2016 figures.
