Pension fund ABP cannot increase pensions
The ABP, the pension fund to which teachers are affiliated, cannot allow pensions to rise in line with price developments next year. The pension contribution does increase from 22,9 to 24,9 percent of the pensionable salary: the amount that serves as the basis for calculating the pension contribution.
That made the ABP board recently announced. The board also does not expect to increase pensions in the coming years, according to the ABP. The fact that the pension fund cannot increase the pensions has to do with the funding ratio, the ratio of the assets and liabilities. The average funding ratio is too low according to the standards to be able to increase pensions, according to the ABP.
The pension contribution increases from 22,9 to 24,9 percent of the pensionable salary. Employers pay 70 percent of this premium and employees 30 percent. In practice, for someone who earns 3500 euros gross per month, it means an extra amount of 11 euros per month in premium.
