AOb delivers half a pie to all primary schools
The outgoing cabinet has closed half the pay gap between primary and secondary education. That's why the AOb half a cake at all primary schools in the Netherlands. “You see that taking action helps. We're not there yet, but now it's time to celebrate."

During the General Political Reflections, the outgoing cabinet allocated 500 million euros to the pay gap between primary and secondary education to close. Or well, for a little more than half, anyway.
“It is a good first step towards a higher salary for teaching staff in primary education”, says daily director Thijs Roovers of the AOb. “We have fought and stopped for years for this. From regional strikes to massive demonstrations on Malieveld and Zuiderpark. And you see: taking action helps.”

To celebrate that success, the AOb half a cake at every primary school in the Netherlands in the coming days and early next week.
“I can't promise that I will visit every school myself with my cargo bike,” says Roovers. “But I can promise that we will continue to campaign. Because that 500 million euros is a good start, but the pay gap between primary and secondary education must be closed completely. And there we have everyone neededbecause together we are strong. But first is the party. Enjoy your meal."
