Startups and the union
What's in it for you to become a member of the AOb?
We stand up for your interests
De AOb stands up for education. For your personal interests. And for the quality of education, so that your students get the education they deserve. To achieve this, we negotiate with the government and employers on behalf of you and your colleagues. We also help our members personally. We give you advice and you can count on legal assistance if a conflict arises with your employer.
Help, advice and legal support
If you are a member of the AOb we answer your questions, and we give you personal advice on everything that has to do with your work. About your terms of employment and contract, for example. There is also support if you feel unsafe at work. Or when you are unsure about how to put something on the agenda at your school. And if a conflict arises with your employer, you will receive legal assistance. Do you currently have a question? Get in touch!
Information and updates that you can use
We organize inspiring conferences and courses and have a well-stocked website. As a member you also receive the Education magazine every month, packed with articles, interviews, reports and information about education.
You agree on the collective agreements
De AOb negotiates the collective bargaining agreement (CAO) on behalf of you and other members. The agreements we make here have direct consequences for your wages, your terms of employment and the budget of your school or university. Because these agreements are so important, as a member you vote on the collective labor agreement proposals.
Together we stand stronger
We are the largest union in education. That helps. We have an important voice in collective bargaining and we also have a lot of influence on the shop floor. Sitting in many schools and universities AObmembers of the works council. If you also become a member, we will be a little stronger again!
Meet starters just like you
Young AOb'ers have set up a separate club for starters: the Green Wave. They regularly hold interesting meetings and keep each other informed via Twitter, Facebook and their own newsletter.
