Zadkine must quickly improve its grip on absenteeism
The MBO institution Zadkine will be fined if the school does not have the absenteeism policy and attendance and absence registration in order for the five Logistics courses by the end of January. This is reported by Minister Ingrid van Engelshoven of Education in a letter to the Lower House.

MPs from the SP and PvdA asked the minister questions about the high level of absenteeism and the poor registration thereof. At the beginning of June, Hugo de Jonge, then Rotterdam's councilor for education, already informed the city council of the problems at the Zadkine location on Aluminumstraat. Not much later the Education Inspectorate started an investigation.
In a report at the end of October, the inspectors conclude that the school has insufficient insight into the unauthorized absenteeism of the students: 'The registration is not proper and not reliable.' Too much goes wrong with the registration, for example because teachers and students are not aware of schedule changes, teaching staff treats late arrivals and all students are automatically present in the digital system at the first hour. This requires strict control, but this does not always happen.

Van Engelshoven is also concerned and believes that Zadkine has failed, she reports to the House. Immediately after the report was published, she called the chairman of the board of the MBO school. The school will have until the end of January to implement changes. 'If this shows that the situation in the five programs still leaves something to be desired', writes Van Engelshoven 'then further action will follow, including the imposition of an administrative fine.'
Earlier on The Logistics program was already in the news because of two fraudulent teachers. They were fired for helping students take their exams.
