Workload plan available at many MBO institutions
The vast majority of MBO institutions have started working with the collective labor agreement on work pressure. “Many institutions now have a workload plan that has been discussed with the works council,” says AObdriver Tamar van Gelder.
De AOb agreed with the other unions and employers in MBO in the collective labor agreement that regional training centers and vocational institutions should pay attention to the high workload. Before this summer, every MBO school had to have a workload plan with agreements to reduce the workload, with the approval of the works council that includes staff representation.
Good examples
Almost all MBO institutions have achieved this, says Van Gelder. “We see that the conversation about work pressure has started by making these plans.” The advantage is that the theme is now well on the agenda, says the AOb-driver. “That agreement in the collective labor agreement helped with that.”

Now that the plans have been made, the collective labor agreement parties want to collect, bundle and - in February - distribute good examples. “The causes of the workload can be found in the plans and what measures schools have taken. Other MBO institutions can benefit from this.”
To evaluate
According to Van Gelder, the consequences and effects of the workload plans will only be visible in 2021, when schools can evaluate this. “School boards can measure this well with a survey among employees into job satisfaction. In it you can often see how the staff currently experiences the work pressure. It can be evaluated every two years.”
