Vo Boor employees still receive a wage if they strike
School group Boor nonetheless continues to pay secondary education employees during the two-day strike, just like their colleagues from primary education. The board is thus returning to an earlier decision to only pay the wages of primary education employees. Various secondary education teachers and the AOb felt that there was unequal treatment.

Dorieke Hammink, spokesperson for the school group with about 75 schools in Rotterdam, confirms that the board has reversed the decision. Initially, Boor informed employees that participants in the protest march and the manifestation in the Kuip would continue to be paid in primary education. This is a joint action of WIJonderwEIS, de AOb and the other unions in Rotterdam. No such agreement had been made in secondary education. 'That is a problem,' admits the board of Boor in an email to the employees.
That also thought AObdistrict manager Jan Menger. “It cannot be the case that if you work in primary education for the same employer you will receive your salary and not in another sector,” says Menger. He therefore made together with AObmembers object to the board.

Partly for this reason, the board has changed tack and is now 'leveling the situation' for primary and secondary education. Under certain conditions, employees from both sectors will continue to be paid. For example, on Thursday they have to participate in the protest march and manifestation in De Kuip and in the afternoon at school work on goals of the strike, such as thinking about reducing work pressure and combating the teacher shortage. The wages will be withheld from employees who complete the strike in a different way. The location directors of the schools check this, Hammink says. "They indicate in Afas from whom the wages must be withheld," said the spokesman.
District manager Menger indicates that LMC in Rotterdam does not withhold wages. CVO does this. AObmembers can go on strike for the days they go on strike a strike benefit of up to 64 euros per day.
