Smelly floor chases students out of the classroom
A newly painted floor at a technology location of the Summa College in Eindhoven caused odor nuisance this week. Some people suffered from complaints such as headaches and nausea. The management therefore decided to end the lessons early on Tuesday.

This confirms spokesman Doortje Cornelissen of Summa College, a large MBO institution with 26 schools in North Brabant. At the AOb worried calls came in about the stench. “Our advice is to first engage a prevention officer,” says Marlies Romania of the Information and Advice Center of the Netherlands. AOb. Unforeseen
According to Cornelissen, a new floor was painted at the Eindhoven technology location last Tuesday and the coating of the floor in particular caused the stench. 'We had not foreseen that the coating would cause such an odor nuisance,' Cornelissen emails. When this caused a nuisance, the management decided to stop the lessons for that day. "We find this very annoying for our students," said the spokesperson. By ventilating the room well, the stench was gone the next day.
This weekend, the floor will be further overhauled, so that there is no more inconvenience for staff and students.
