School files a complaint against internet memes
The secondary school Het Schoter in Haarlem has reported libel and slander to the police because of internet jokes with images of employees. The images on Instagram are insulting and hurtful to those involved, according to the high school.

"Usually jokes on the internet are harmless, but in this case there were cross-border texts and manipulated photos of employees," the school said in a letter to the parents. Before the posts, photos of teachers appear to have been taken from their Facebook accounts.
Exceeded
“The internet jokes, memes, were shared by many students and were sometimes funny ”, says rector Arjan van Waveren. “But there is a certain limit that you cannot agree on. And that was exceeded. ”
At least one meme has stopped since the report
The school does not make any announcements about who exactly has been reported. If those people are already known, because who is behind an Instagram account is often difficult to find out. In any case, the letter asks the parents to discuss the matter with their children. "Since the declaration, at least one account has already been removed," says Van Waveren. "So it has had an effect."
Bullying teacher
A school in Eindhoven already reported in a similar case last year. "Teacher bullying is, at least among adolescents, of all times", says Liesbeth Verheggen chairman of the AOb. “But the technology offers new possibilities. It is good that the school takes action against this and supports the staff. ”
