Amusement park serves working parent during teacher strike
When teachers go on strike on April 13, parents with primary school children are allowed to work in one of the restaurants of amusement park Toverland in North Limburg. However, both parent and child must buy an entrance ticket.

“We didn't organize anything extra in the previous strikes,” says spokesman Tessa Maessen. They did notice that it was busier in the park than usual. Maessen: “That is why we want to do something this time. On April 13, we will set up one of our restaurants as a workplace. Parents can get free coffee and tea and an employee walks around to monitor the 'working atmosphere'. We provide good WiFi and power points for laptops.”

It is not the first time that companies respond to strikes and students' unexpected days off. During the day previous strikes for example, cinemas opened in the afternoon and sports clubs organized tournaments. “We saw that during the previous strikes, parents had taken time off to come to the amusement park, so we thought it would be useful if they can now work while the children are walking around in the park,” says Maessen.
Especially people from the neighborhood with a subscription will go to the amusement park on April 13 to work, Maessen thinks. “They can visit the park with the subscription. The rest simply have to buy an entrance ticket, including the working parent. We doubted about that, but in the end they can also be used in all attractions.”
Relay race
Brabant and Limburg is the third region to participate in the relay strike in primary education. The teachers are fighting for a better salary and therefore close the doors of the school on April 13. Maessen: "The strikes may be a little nice for companies, but the real reason why the teachers are on strike is of course not."
