Despite corona, more registrations for higher professional education and academic higher education
Now that the application deadline of 1 June has passed, colleges and universities are taking stock. And that is a good thing: more students have registered at both higher professional and university education than last year.

Due to the corona crisis, everything is slightly different in higher education this year. Some institutions published considerably lower registration figures last month than in the same period last year.
It raised the question of whether prospective students are really waiting for distance learning. But the universities and universities of applied sciences kept their spirits up: prospective students could still make a massive final sprint, just as in previous years.

That seems to have happened. For example, up to 1 June 2020, more than 169 students have registered for a higher professional education (associate degree, bachelor or master). That is 1,6 percent more than in the same week last year, reports the Association of Universities of Applied Sciences. Compared to last year's deadline (May 1), there are even 4,3 percent more registrations.
The universities are also well in the plus. More than 99 thousand new Bachelor's students have registered there at the moment: 6,5 percent more than in the same week last year. Compared to May 1, 2019, this is 6,1 percent more.
The first figures are therefore certainly favorable, although registrations are not yet actual registrations. It remains particularly exciting whether the international students who have registered will actually show up after the summer.
