Two more schools Zaan Primair start a four-day school week

Aan the beginning of this week announced board chairman Niko Persoon van Zaan Primair AOb.nl already indicated that more schools of his board may switch to a four-day school week. Last Monday it was announced that group 5 of the public primary school De Spiegel in Zaandam will switch to a four-day school week after the autumn holidays up to and including the Christmas holidays because there are too few teachers to be found.
Today the school board reports that it will not stay with that primary school. Two other school locations are also required to introduce a four-day school week as an emergency measure due to the teacher shortage. All classes at De Kernschool, a school for newcomers, will be transferred to four days of classes, Zaan Primair reports.
This school mainly contains students who have to learn the Dutch language before they can move on to a regular primary school. The school board reports that they have been looking for two teachers who can work full-time since the summer holidays.
Long-term illness
In addition, a class from Dynamica XL location Molenwerf will switch to a four-day school week. This is a school for special education where many students with autism are taught. Due to a long-term sick teacher, one of the groups at Molenwerf also gets a four-day school week. "The vacancy that has arisen cannot be filled," the school board wrote in a press release. 'Especially because teaching this specific group requires expertise.'
President of the Board Persoon already showed know earlier that with these measures he 'puts a line in the sand' and wants to protect his staff. The school board has announced that it will continue recruiting in the hope of making the period of the four-day school week shorter.
