'New perspectives on suitable education are not in place now'
New ambitions in the field of appropriate education only make sense if the preconditions are met. That says AObPresident Eugenie Stolk, who calls on MPs to let the minister pause. Stolk: “Before we talk about a new perspective, the current conditions must be in order and problems must be solved.”

The House will soon be talking about appropriate education and the evaluation process. The ministry wants to formulate new ambitions for this. The ambitions envisioned by OCW must ensure even more inclusive education. AObChairman Stolk does not think a “new dot on the horizon” is desirable and hopes that the House will oppose this.
Impossible assignment
“Due to the increasing teacher shortages, the daily practice of appropriate education is already an impossible task,” says Stolk. “Our members indicate this in every survey. They are concerned about appropriate education and how to do this properly with the current teacher shortages and high workload. The need is already high. ”
New ambitions are what the AObchairman is therefore beyond the reality of everyday life. “Let's solve all the problems that are already there before we move on to new perspectives. We are not against more inclusive education, but today's reality requires us to stop. ”
Today's reality forces us to pause
According to the AOb The preconditions for appropriate education must first be in order. Now, for example, there are differences in care per region and it can therefore differ per region which care pupils do or do not receive. “We have been arguing for some time to establish which basic care should be provided by each partnership in the Netherlands,” says Stolk. "Appropriate education must first work in daily practice before we start thinking about new perspectives."
