Majority agrees to collective labor agreement for secondary education
De AObsector council approved the new collective labor agreement for secondary education last night. When the collective labor agreement is final, all employees will see a structural wage increase of 1,5 percent - with retroactive effect from 1 October 2021 - on their pay slips. The year-end bonus will also increase structurally by 0,33 percent. AOb-director Jelmer Evers: “And now of course we are not going to sit still. Work pressure is at the top of the agenda.”

In addition to the salary increase, employees will also receive a one-off payment of 800 euros gross because they did not receive a salary increase for the months January to September 2021. Whether an employee receives the full 800 euros depends on the duration of the employment and the number of FTEs. School boards will transfer the pay increase and benefit in November or December, depending on how quickly the administration can implement it.
Poll
Over the past two weeks, AOb-members give their opinion on the agreement through a poll. 56,3 percent agreed with the agreement, 43,7 percent voted against. The polls at the other unions and the employers' organization VO-raad are still open. It is expected that their supporters will also agree. As soon as this is known, the collective labor agreement is signed.
Something needs to be done about the workload
AObdirector Evers knows that it is not a 'jubilee agreement' and is already looking at the new negotiations that will start next month. “The message from the open comments in the poll is clear: something has to be done about the workload. This topic is at the top. We will determine the new commitment shortly and hope that members will contribute.” The Hague will also have to make structural investments. “The teacher shortage is enormous, the profession must be much more attractive and we must therefore increase the pressure on politicians and employers. I'll get back to how we're going to do it soon."
