Teachers in Groningen primary school want to get rid of the principal
There is great unrest at the Veenpluis primary school in Zevenhuizen in Groningen because of a conflict between the director, teachers, parents and the participation council. This is evident from written questions from the local VVD in the municipality of Westerkwartier where the school is located.

According to VVD councilor Mattheus Gorter, eight of the twelve teachers indicated that they would not return to the school after the holiday under the current school director, Maria Luimstra. Also the party declares at a written request from the parent section of the participation council in which confidence in the school director is withdrawn and previous petitions.

"The quality and continuity of education are at risk," said the councilor in a statement on his party's Facebook page. He believes that the party cannot ignore the signals and the 'great social unrest'. Gorter wants a mediator to come, if necessary the alderman for education.
In the Newspaper of the North President of the Board Gerrit Rotman of the umbrella school foundation Quadraten - a merger since 2018 between Penta Primair and Westerwijs - said that the teachers already sounded the alarm about the bad atmosphere in May. An investigation was then launched, and the last talks will follow during this summer holiday. Only then will the President of the Executive Board consider how the primary school should proceed.
Intervene
In almost all municipalities, public education is remote from the municipality and the school boards make their own decisions. Nevertheless, the local VVD is now calling for the municipality to intervene. “We can't let this go on. We must prevent this problem from escalating further and endangering social cohesion in Zevenhuizen.'
