Landstede nevertheless gives diplomas to ten students
Ten students from the Europort Business School (EPBS) can breathe a sigh of relief now that yesterday they received a diploma from roc Landstede in Zwolle. The two schools are in conflict and the students risked missing out on their diplomas as a result.
Last Monday 21 students filed a lawsuit against roc Landstede. They demanded a diploma from Landstede before the court for the training they followed at EPBS. The students followed their training at EPBS, but this was a collaboration with Landstede. The Zwolle MBO institution worked for seven courses, such as trade manager or logistics employee, together with EPBS, but came into conflict.
Fraud
The Education Inspectorate arrived in March this year with a report about EPBS following an article in the Algemeen Dagblad. In that article, a former employee and students announced that exams were being used for fraud. In the end, the inspectorate found no evidence that test answers were provided to students by EPBS employees.
The inspectorate did publish last July a follow-up report for which the education agreements of the students were examined. The inspectorate concluded that those agreements were incorrect and that the students had actually only concluded them with the EPBS. And therefore not with Landstede. The students knew nothing about this.
The judge found last Monday that there was a valid education agreement between Landstede and the students who followed their training at EPBS. In the daily newspaper the Stentor Landstede's lawyer, Johanneke Liebrand-Bos, said last Monday that the judge's decision was necessary for the ROC to act. Landstede was bound by the inspection report. The verdict again provides leeway. All exam files are now being checked by the Landstede Examination Board. '
Further training
Some students were in a hurry, because they wanted to register for a further course on 1 September. Ten of the 21 students those who instituted summary proceedings still received their diplomas. They were also so far that they met all the requirements for a diploma, one exam work was considered insufficient by the Board of Examiners. The other ten claimants did not yet meet all the requirements. Landstede assesses their work as quickly as possible to see which individual path the students still have to complete in order to meet the diploma requirements. 'We are very happy that the students can receive the Landstede diploma. This outcome of the summary proceedings was Landstede's commitment from the start', according to the roc.
