Bonhof said goodbye to Hogeschool Utrecht last summer after twelve years, after her contract expired on 1 September 2015. She got an annual salary of 182.900 euros. In her farewell year, Bonhof also claimed more than fifteen thousand euros for 'promotion of expertise'. This amount mainly concerns a course for supervisory board members in business at Nyenrode Business University.

According to the Top Income Standards Act (Wnt), a maximum severance payment of 75 euros applies. Departure premiums that have already been determined before the law are subject to transitional law and are not affected. According to the university of applied sciences, this also applies to Bonhof's severance pay.

Career stage

In a response to the Education Journal, the supervisory board announced three weeks ago that there was actually no dismissal.

Dismissal here means termination of employment due to the expiry of the term of appointment and failure to reappoint. According to contractual agreements, Ms. Bonhof is entitled to compensation for termination of employment.

The Supervisory Board also states that Bonhof was entitled to compensation of one and a half years' salary and that she voluntarily waived half an annual salary.

In response to the supervisory board training, which Bonhof followed shortly before her departure, the Supervisory Board stated that it would be in the interest of the university of applied sciences. 'The Supervisory Board encourages members of the Executive Board to hold a supervisory directorship as an additional position, as a quality impulse for their own performance as directors. The training program followed has been supportive - and therefore in the interest of the HU. For Mrs. Bonhof, the training program suited her career phase.'

Wry

Hogeschool Utrecht was previously discredited after employees said they were being pressured to resign with a small severance package.

Wrang, called AObdistrict manager Jan Dijkstra gave the golden handshake earlier. "A director who receives two hundred thousand euros, while employees had to leave with minimal compensation, that is skewed. Such a severance bonus does not fit in the current social climate, especially if you as a director have been rewarded more than excellently all these years."
