The Hague primary school closes due to corona among teachers
De Springbok primary school in The Hague is closing its doors this week because two teachers are infected with the corona virus and several students have stomach and intestinal complaints. These are two school locations, confirms Cobi van Beek, a member of the Executive Board of the Hague Schools to which the school falls.

At each location, one teacher has tested positive for the coronavirus, Van Beek confirms. In addition, there were seven students with stomach complaints who are now being tested for the corona virus in consultation with the GGD. Van Beek: “These are all signals and we said to each other 'this doesn't feel right'. We must protect the employees and children until all test results are in. It's preventive, we don't want it to get worse."

Distance learning again
As of this morning, all students will therefore follow distance education again and they will no longer come to De Springbok. That will continue until the end of this week. The parents have been informed about this. The Hague Schools include a total of 52 primary schools, the measure only applies to De Springbok. “This is what we had to do,” says Van Beek. “With this decision to give the students distance education again, it was nice that we have that on hand. Then such a decision hurts less, although it is not ideal.”

AOb-chairman Eugenie Stolk thinks it is good that the school has intervened so quickly and immediately decided to stop the physical lessons. “If AOb We have always insisted that testing should be possible quickly," says Stolk. "That is what is happening now." She also thinks it is wise that the school communicates so openly with all parents and students. "Hopefully there will be clarity about this soon how the infections progressed.”
