Cycling scientists protest against temporary contracts
Not a banner, but cycling shorts: at the opening of the new academic year, scientists will protest outside on two wheels. The use of temporary contracts has been the standard personnel policy in the academic world for years. It is a waste of valuable talent, it increases the already abnormally high workload, stimulates mutual conflict and creates social insecurity. Talented personnel are sent away time and again, so they are forced to travel as nomads from university to university.
That's why the AOb together with the other organizations at the opening of the academic year on August 31 in action with a bicycle protest to draw attention to the high number of researchers and lecturers in temporary employment.
Who himself sign up for the tour, a route will cycle between two university cities, for example Amsterdam-Utrecht or Eindhoven-Tilburg. Because Groningen and Enschede are slightly off the route, they cycle around the faculties there. If you prefer not to climb on the saddle yourself, you can report to the starting point to “see off” dismissed colleagues.
