Exam fraud at Zadkine College
At the Zadkine College, a large MBO institution in Rotterdam, fraud was committed during the logistics level 3 training with exams. Sixty individual exams have been declared invalid and three employees have been suspended.
Last Friday, the roc reported in a press release that mistakes were made during exams. “We have established that employees in the exam training courses discussed questions and answers with the students who later came back exactly the same way in the exams,” said press officer Robbert Poort of Zadkine.
It concerns five different types of tests in the two-year MBO logistics course. “41 students have to retake the exams,” says Poort. They had knowledge of the questions and answers. 79 students were unable to take exams in May, their tests were postponed.
Committed
The fraud came to light when two Zadkine employees reported to a counselor. Subsequently, the board was informed. “An external agency is now investigating the exact role of those involved. Conversations did show that the teachers who shared questions and answers were overly involved in the study results of their students. ”
The school had never noticed before that they were messing with exams. There was, however, an incident with irregularities during an exam last January. The study program itself then declared this exam invalid. After the administration was informed of the fraud, action was taken.
Poort: "An external investigation has been started, three employees have been suspended, there is a new chairman of the examination committee, a new team leader and we have reported everything to the Education Inspectorate."
The Zadkine College is now in the process of offering students a route to pass exams. “Fortunately, these are not students who already had a diploma from the study program,” said the press officer.
Presence
Education alderman Hugo de Jonge of Rotterdam brought the city council on June 2 informed of the situation. De Jonge says that Zadkine is taking measures because of the exam fraud, the municipality of Rotterdam plays no role in this. De Jonge does point out the attendance registration that was not carried out correctly during the logistics training. 'At the moment it is not entirely clear to what extent', writes De Jonge.
Press officer Poort says that the registration shows a different picture. "We can mainly see that the attendance was very, very low."
