Finally reporting point for poor ventilation of school buildings
After much insistence, the government is opening a hotline today for complaints about ventilation of school buildings. The hotline is intended for primary, special and secondary education, the AOb is forced to open its own counter for MBO, HBO and WO.

Anyone who has a complaint or a question about ventilation of the class or of his or her school building can contact us from today the hotline of knowledge center RuimteOK. The hotline also provides information about CO2 meters, and schools receive money to purchase these meters.

“We have waited a long time for it, but it is really good news that a hotline is now being opened where teachers and support staff from primary, special and secondary education can go,” says AOb-chairman Tamar van Gelder. “There are many concerns and complaints about ventilation and air quality, and you can expect the government to actually take action on those reports. And it's good that CO2 meters are finally being arranged."

From various surveys of the AOb Recently, it has become apparent that ventilation is not yet in order in many schools. Van Gelder: “It has taken far too long, but now it seems that something is finally happening. Not a day too soon, because it is about the health of the staff and the students.”

De AObThe chairman calls on all employees in education to make use of the new hotline. “We want to once again bring the urgency of good ventilation to the attention of drivers. Make a report especially if the ventilation of your class or school is not yet in order.”
Hotline for senior secondary vocational education and higher education
De AOb believes that employees from senior secondary vocational education and higher education are also entitled to a place where they can go with questions and complaints about ventilation. They cannot use the new government hotline. “Larger secondary education buildings often have some form of mechanical ventilation,” says Van Gelder. “But it is unclear whether that ventilation is sufficient. And there are still buildings where the staff just have to open a window.”
