The Senate wants funding for training education

In the Senate, a large majority is in favor of the bill to structurally provide public schools with money for religious and humanistic education. That became apparent during the treatment of the bill on February 7.
Earlier on there was already sufficient support in the House of Representatives for the bill by Loes Ypma (PvdA), Michel Rog (CDA) and Joël Voordewind (ChristenUnie). Public primary schools are obliged to provide training education, but the current funding is not structural. Every year it is checked whether money is available. Schools then receive a subsidy.
Senator Mohamed Sini (PvdA) said during the debate: "It helps children to have respect for people who have a different attitude to life than themselves." The CDA faction in the Senate noted that there is now a lot of financial uncertainty and that it is causing a shortage of teachers. VVD senator Jan Anthonie Bruijn is critical of the bill. "This structural funding undermines neutrality," said the senator. D66 hoped that State Secretary Dekker of Education will implement the bill in a generous and sporty manner and that any additional resources will be made available.
Update:
Yesterday the Senate took over the moods finalize the private member's bill. Only the VVD, PVV and 50Plus voted against the law. The motion which asked for a bridging arrangement for the costs of training education until the moment the new law enters into force, was also passed. The AOb following the news about the structural funding, has invited the employers' organization Dienstcentrum GVO/HVO to start negotiations this spring to arrive at salary agreements in the CLA GVO/HVO.
