The final exams in secondary education this year require more work than usual. Because of the corona epidemic, there is one extra time slot and in the North region, final exams can be checked until the summer holidays.

The cabinet has made money available to compensate schools, teachers and support staff for that extra work. The AOb and the other unions have made agreements with the VO Council about the way in which that money is used.

A distinction is made between the situation in the North holiday region and the rest of the country. “It is important for the North holiday region that we have agreed that work in the third period will always be done on a voluntary basis,” says AObdirector Henrik de Moel. “That was an important point for us. Because this is of course a bizarre year of education, everyone is running on their gums. Then you cannot oblige people to continue working during their holidays at the end of the year. And of course, that extra work must be neatly compensated. Fortunately, that has now been arranged. ”

1300 €

In the North region, teachers who remain available in the first week of the summer holiday for work arising from the third period of the exams receive a gross allowance of 1300 euros. At the employee's request, this can also be compensation in time of five working days. In addition, there is compensation for other employees involved in the central exam in the North region.

Middle and South

Lecturers and support staff in the Central and South regions will also receive compensation for the extra work resulting from the extra resit opportunity and the organization of the extended second and third time periods. The amount of this compensation is determined at school level.
