Collective labor agreement HBO final after approval of members
The collective labor agreement for higher professional education is final. The supporters of the AOb, the other unions and the employers have agreed to the negotiated agreement concluded last month.

All employees in higher professional education will receive 880 euros in November. This one-off payment next month is gross and pro rata to the employment. A 1% wage increase will follow on 2 February next year.

AObdirector Douwe van der Zweep: "It is good that this agreement has been ratified. In the near future we will elaborate it in collective labor agreement texts. a lot to do."
Pension contributions
Rising pension contributions were a difficult point in the collective labor agreement negotiations. Those premiums will increase this year and next year, at the expense of the wage margin. Van der Zweep: “In the end we arrived at a percentage that everyone can live with. It is a wage increase of 2 percent over, in total, a period of fifteen months. That percentage is in line with the collective labor agreements in MBO and universities.”
The workload plans are from before corona and online working. They need to be updated
It has also been agreed that employee participation councils in the universities of applied sciences will update the existing workload plans. “These plans date from before corona,” says Van der Zweep. “So the fact that more and more people work online have not been taken into account.”
Unreachable
The new workload plans must contain agreements on matters such as the availability of workplaces for online working, the number of hours of computer work and the right to inaccessibility. Van der Zweep: “If you're not careful, the work will go on all day long via email, app and Teams or Zoom. That is not the intention."
Task commands
Employee councils will also test whether HBO employers give their staff realistic task assignments. Which means that people should be given enough time and resources to perform their tasks.
Finally, before April 1, 2022 - until then this collective agreement will run - the parties to the collective labor agreement will examine arrangements to properly guide new employees and relieve their workload. They are also investigating how older employees can reach their retirement age in a healthy way.
