Brabant school will pay study costs
Good news for the students of the De Rooi Pannen school community in Brabant: they no longer have to pay study costs to the school. The school wants to create equal opportunities for students with this.
The school for VMBO and MBO reports this today in a press release. Nearly eight thousand students are located at De Rooi Pannen, spread over locations in Tilburg, Eindhoven and Breda. From now on, the school pays the costs for excursions, books, other learning materials and the parental contribution itself and no longer asks pupils and parents for this. This school year, the students still pay for their study books, but from next school year that will no longer be necessary. "This means a saving of hundreds of euros per year for most students," said the school.
Tuition fees and work clothes
Students still have to pay the legal tuition that goes to the Ministry of Education. They also have to buy their work clothes themselves.
The school can pay for study costs thanks to good financial policy and constant student growth. All buildings have been paid off and the school claims to have low personnel costs due to a healthy staff structure. In the Brabants Dagblad Board chairman Tiny Pheninckx said that the new scheme will cost the school 2 to 2,5 million euros annually.
