Unions demand extra money for supporters and school leaders
The unions have expanded their demands, shortly before the next relay strike in South Holland and Zeeland. In addition to extra money for teacher salaries in primary education to close the salary gap with secondary education, the unions are drawing attention to the salary of school leaders and support staff.

The PO front has laid down the requirement in a joint letter to Minister of Education Slob. Before each strike, the unions will send the minister an 'ultimatum letter' listing the requirements.
For the upcoming relay strike on September 12 the letter sent at the end of August. In addition to 560 million euros for an improvement in teacher salaries, the unions also demand money for the salary of support staff and school leaders. “Educational support staff and school leaders also keep the school running and are of great importance in reducing the workload,” says Stolk.
Attractive
In the past year, the PO front, where the AOb together with the other education unions and the employers' organization PO Council, has drawn attention to primary education. Relay strikes took place across the country to denounce the high workload and teacher shortage. The salary must be raised to make the profession attractive.
Minister Slob took a first step by allocating 270 million euros for teachers' salaries and 450 million euros for reducing the workload. But this is not enough to solve all problems, the unions say.
