Primary school teachers in Brabant and Limburg are on strike on April 13
Teachers, support staff and other teaching staff from primary education in Brabant and Limburg will campaign on Friday 13 April. Yesterday they took over the relay baton from their colleagues in Utrecht, Flevoland and Noord-Holland. That went symbolically with a video in which Master Koos from Amsterdam hands the megaphone to his colleague Bart from the south.

Master Koos says in the video that was played yesterday at the end of the demonstration on the Museumplein: 'It's great that you have come to Amsterdam so en masse. The march is coming to an end, but we will continue!' He gives the action megaphone to Master Bart, who is going to strike on April 13. 'It's still Code Red,' says Bart. “Quality is still under pressure. That's why my colleagues and I will continue to campaign on April 13th.' Watch the video below.

The parties on the PO front, where the AOb together with other education unions, signed a manifesto a year ago for less work pressure and more salary. By now there is a workload agreement of the primary education front with the cabinet, so that every school will receive a substantial extra amount for workload relief next school year. For an average school of 225 students, this is 35 thousand euros. It is up to the teams themselves to determine how this amount should be spent at their school.
In terms of salaries, the government is not meeting the demand of 900 million euros. Only 270 million euros is available for the salary. Closing the gap between salaries in primary and secondary education is important to make working in primary education attractive and to prevent current teachers from switching to the business world. It is also essential that the intake at teacher training colleges increases in order to ensure that there are enough teachers in the future to be able to offer high-quality education to all pupils.
To invest
To call on the cabinet to invest more money, teachers from Utrecht, Noord-Holland and Flevoland went on strike yesterday. They walked in a march through Amsterdam. Earlier on teachers from the Northern Netherlands put down all work.
