Primary school De Petteflet has completed plan action week
Jenaplan school De Petteflet in Groningen has finalized the program for the action week. “We do something every day,” says location leader José Achterhof. And on Friday the school is closed, then the staff are on strike.

Prior to the strike on March 15, there is an action week from March 11 to March 14. Team members of De Petteflet have therefore started to come up with actions in collaboration with the other jenaplan school Swoaistee.
Create flop classes
“On Wednesdays we make flop classes,” says Achterhof. In the morning the groups are divided so that the large classes are visible. “Part of the team has their hands free because of the division and enters into discussions with parents, for example about the high workload.”
During the previous strikes, it turned out that many teachers are mainly leaving work because of the high workload. Achterhof: “It is of course different for each person, but it often concerns all the 'arrangements' for which you receive little support. Children in groups with behavioral problems also require a lot of attention and guidance during the lesson. You also write action plans for that. "

Emergency clock
That is why the school takes part in the action week and wants to make it clear to the education staff that investments are needed in primary education. Teachers and supporters will call for attention on several days a week to sign the petition and on Thursday the janitors will ring the bell.
“Or rather: the emergency bell”, says the location manager. "We then ask the students to leave the building quietly to show that we are concerned." For the very first day of the action week, Monday 11 March, the school dance is planned at the end of the school day on the square. Parents may also be present. "We do the Petteflet farewell dance with the entire school, which we normally do before the holidays." In this way, the employees want to show that the profession is also very beautiful. "We celebrate that we still get it together."
