AOb demonstrates for largest education investment ever
Cabinet, make the largest education investment ever. Now or after the formation. That is the call of the AOb at the House of Representatives, where the education budget is being discussed today.

“This is the last chance for the incumbent cabinet to free up more money for education,” says AOb-chairman Tamar van Gelder. “Otherwise an opportunity to record, behind the scenes, at the formation table that that money will come. D66 has already announced that it wants to include 'the largest education investment ever' in the coalition agreement. I just help them remember.”
A great promise has been made – don't disappoint education now
The investment is necessary, among other things, to completely bridge the gap in salary between primary school teachers and their colleagues in secondary education. And furthermore for, for example, reducing class sizes and creating more permanent jobs – certainly in MBO, HBO and WO. And because of the increasing teacher shortage and the workload in all sectors, there is a rush. “I hope that the people at the negotiating table realize that because of this long formation we are another school year further,” says Van Gelder.

Due to corona, the demonstration took place with only two participants: chairman Van Gelder and member of the executive board Jelmer Evers. “Under normal circumstances, we would have been standing here with thousands of teachers, support staff, school leaders and academics,” says de AOb-chair. “As soon as it is possible again, we will certainly do that again. But I sure hope it's not necessary. I wish the cabinet a lot of wisdom in dealing with the budget, and above all I wish the parties a lot of wisdom in drawing up the coalition agreement. A great promise has been made – do not disappoint education now.”
