Good education involves more than deploying efficient interventions that promote the learning process. It also concerns forms of young people, so that they can contribute to a just society based on their individuality.

De AOb-department Sint Bonaventura invites everyone who works in education to connect their own professionalism to personal values ​​and ideals. You can use these values ​​and ideals for the benefit of the educational process. Saint Bonaventura points to the Catholic tradition as a source of inspiration in addition to other sources of inspiration. All AOb-members who work with heart and soul in education can participate in this group.

Sint Bonaventura is a proponent of freedom of education as expressed in the Dutch Constitution. We see the freedom of education as an opportunity to give shape and content to good education that is meaningful for young people. In our opinion, freedom of education means appreciation for the autonomy of the teacher, who can make a professional assessment to use personal values ​​and ideals, whereby students are given the space and are challenged to discover themselves and shape their own identity. Such a teacher invites young people to think about their own identity and stimulates the development of their talents.

What does the Sint Bonaventura department do?

• We organize meetings to strengthen the personal educational vision of teachers, whereby the Catholic tradition and in particular Catholic social thinking serve as a source of inspiration.
• Together with the CVHO department, we develop teaching materials and websites for (special) education.
• We respond to developments in national and regional politics that affect philosophical aspects of education, such as discussions about citizenship and the interpretation of the freedom of education.
• We give advice to it AOb-government over the philosophical aspects of education.
• We maintain contacts with other partners involved in Catholic education, such as the Dutch Catholic School Council and Verus, the association for Catholic and Christian education.
• We maintain contacts with other organizations that are inspired by Catholic social thinking.
